This tool is developed to help you focus on the topics of your lessons and keep track of your student’s
progress. DruM1-2-3 is specifically made to help prepare your lesson, let you do the teaching
and
check the
result after the lesson. During the lesson, the focus should be on the student, not the app.
Therefore our, bit cheesy, slogan is: prep-teach-check . This is how it works:
ADD A STUDENT: To add a student click on Students and then on Add new student. Here you can fill in your student’s name, age, favorite music, set-up, the gear the student has at home etc. Some of the info added here will pop up in your student’s Dashboard. So you can fill in this form as you see suited for your lessons with this particular student. Once you’re done, click Save and your (new) student will show on the Students page. Note: the entry of the email adress is obligatory at this moment.
DASHBOARD: The Dashboard is the heart of the app. Here you can add skills to work on with your student, make notes about the lesson and edit the profile of your student. You’ll see info on your student’s gear, their motivation and the books they have in their posession. With a new student, all the boxes that show the program next to the Skillzone’s are empty. Here you can start puttin short- or longterm goals that you and your student want to achieve. To add a particular Skill, click on All skills in the upper right corner.
SELECT SKILLS: This is the section where all the hard work has already been done for you. Here you’ll find 9 Skillzones containing a lot of skills for drummers. Add a skill to your student’s programme by clicking Active next to the skill. If you wish to be more specific about a goal, you can add some SubSkills.
DEGREE OF MASTERY: This is the part where you keep track of your student’s progress. To keep things simple, there are three options. The first is a box called ‘Did it!’, which means you and your student worked on this particular (Sub)Skill. The student should understand the concept of the skill. When the student can demonstrate the skill, tick of ‘Got it!’. And when it shows up in their playing, either live or during the lesson, tick ‘Plays it!’.
NEW NOTE: To take notes of your lesson, click New note and fill in your remarks and/or homework. A date will be set automatically. To scroll through your notes use Previous or Next after you’ve saved your note. You can edit notes if you click on Edit note.
GOAL GENERATOR: Need a quick skill for a lesson? Or are you stuck with a student and don’t know what to teach? Let the goal generator surprise you with a random picked skill. If you prefer to revisit skills that have already been done, or mastered on the ‘Got it!’-level, then the app will search for these skills specificially.
